From 1 October 2026 a new tax called Vaping Products Duty applies to vape liquid in the UK. Here is what it means for you, and how FairSave is keeping prices down.
What is the new vape duty?
- It is a flat tax of £2.20 for every 10ml of vape liquid.
- It applies to all vape liquids, including nicotine-free e-liquid, whatever the nicotine strength.
- It covers 10ml e-liquids, nic salts, shortfills and the liquid inside prefilled pods and pod kits.
- It does not apply to devices, batteries, coils or accessories.
What it adds to common products
| Product | Duty added |
|---|---|
| 10ml nic salt or e-liquid | £2.20 |
| 2ml prefilled pod | £0.44 |
| Pod kit with 2ml pod + 10ml refill (12ml) | £2.64 |
| 50ml shortfill | £11.00 |
Duty is charged on the amount of liquid. VAT is charged on top of the duty, and each brand decides how much of the cost to pass on, so shelf prices vary.
Our prices are staying the same, for now
Stock that came into the UK before 1 October 2026 was not charged the new duty. We stocked up before the change, so our prices will stay the same for as long as we can get stock at the old prices. When that stock runs out, prices will have to change to reflect the duty, but we will always keep them as fair as we can.
Please bear with us
We are very busy at the moment. Because of the high volume of sales, some items may be out of stock even if the website says they are in stock. We are sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Duty stamps from April 2027
Alongside the duty, vape products will carry a duty stamp to show the tax has been paid. Shops can sell older unstamped stock until 31 March 2027. From 1 April 2027, all vape products on sale must carry a stamp. Duty stamps help stamp out illegal and fake products, so look out for them.
